Imagine 100 People Sitting In A Circle... Imagine 100 people sitting in a circle. One person gets up and asks the person next to him to give him a dollar. She gives it; after all it's only a dollar. Pleased, he asks the next person, who also gives a dollar. After all it's only a dollar. The politician goes around all 100 people in the circle. Each person gives a dollar. By the time he has gone all around the circle, the politician has $100. He keeps $50 for himself & gives $50 to one person who is overjoyed at the windfall. The politician goes around the circle a 2nd time, again asking for a dollar. Each person gives a dollar. After all it's only a dollar. By the time he has gone all around the circle, the politician has $100. He keeps $50 for himself & gives $50 to one person, a different person from before but who has the same reaction - joy at the windfall. The politician goes around the circle 100 times. After each time, he keeps $50 for himself & gives $50 to a person, a different person each time. By the end, everybody in the circle is $100 poorer, $50 richer & happy. |
