No, I've known Aaron for years, going way back to his California days. As a centrist political observer, I say that Proctor is the one who gets it: politics really is just about who is in charge. Talk of political violence is misplaced and creates a false choice. Aaron has wisely observed that much of what we think of as politics is just theater, an elaborate rhetorical show to rally support, much like the world of pro-wrestling. The rivalries, the feuds, the alliances, it is all a carefully staged act. I'm not suggesting there are no serious policy differences, rather that much of what we would call, "the debate," is just for show. The sooner we stop talking politics so seriously, the sooner we can actually converse about how best to shape our nation.

P.S. Talk to the so-called Conservatives in this City and they call me a Libertarian. The Libertarians call me a Conservative. So I stole "conservatrian" from some dude off the Internet. When I'm around LP types, I feel like Rush Limbaugh. When I'm around GOP "it's ok to ban smoking because it isn't a big deal and we need more party seats types", I feel like a Libertarian. Fix that one. :-)

I think the confusion in the platform, and some of the comments has to do with the referee minarchist mentality.

As any good Voluntaryist Anarchist knows, all manner of referee should also be private. As soon as you ask FOR a state function, you sanction reduction up to expulsion of your liberty and that of others.

Securing rights would not violate the NAP, since securing rights just means making sure the NAP is not violated.

Any tax violates the NAP, since 'tax' is just a euphemism for theft. To see why, consider that force and the threat of force are used to collect taxes. If taxation were voluntary, like buying things from a store, then no force would be needed.

I'm not sure how securing rights of individuals would violate NAP, or how taxing privilege would be theft, aggression, evil, etc.
